Home Runs for Hunger
Last May the One Write fun bus outing traveled to Cincinnati to watch the Pirates defeat the Reds. Little did we realize then that One Write and the Pirates would be involved together in a campaign to fight against hunger.
On July 22nd, 2011 the Pirates hosted the Cardinals at PNC Park. It was Pittsburgh Presbytery Night and The Home Runs for Hunger Campaign was officially launched.
The program features a $100.00 donation to The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank for every home run hit by a Pirate player.
The following week One Write contacted Gregg Hartung, the Executive Director of the Presbyterian Media Mission, to ask if they could contribute to the campaign. Many of the member churches in the Pittsburgh Presbytery are One Write customers, using our Offering Envelope Books, Pledge Cards or Forms.
Gary was very helpful and welcomed One Write’s participation even though the program was set up for churches to fund.
This year’s revival of baseball in Pittsburgh is something to see. The Home Runs for Hunger campaign focuses that positive energy in a way that benefits the community.
One Write is happy to be a part of this worthy project.
