A Mid-Winter Health Fair

Our company Wellness Program has a great supporter in the community’s hospital, Fairfield Medical Center.

Last Wednesday the FMC team brought their traveling health fair to One Write.

All our employees were invited to come to be prodded, poked and measured under the general heading of a “Wellness Screening.”

Although it was voluntary, twenty-eight of our thirty-six people participated. First we were weighed and our height recorded. Next, each employee’s blood pressure was noted and pulse taken. Then they measured Body Mass Index and Body Fat Percent.

Finally, in exchange for a couple of drops of blood, we learned what our cholesterol and glucose numbers were.

The team’s Dietitian then spent time with each person explaining what the results meant and offering suggestions to improve our health.

We are fortunate to have a medical center like FMC in our community. We are especially grateful that the hospital has a vision to promote healthy life choices and is willing to come to our work setting to help us share it.
